Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about lodging, registration, accessibility, packing, and your time at camp.
May a friend and I reserve a private lodge room?
Private lodge rooms are reserved for married couples only. Individuals will share a room with up to three others so we can accommodate more guests.
If I need to cancel, may I receive my deposit back or apply it to next year?
If you have paid in full, we can refund all but $50 up to seven days before the start of camp. After that, no refunds will be made, as food and supplies will have already been purchased.
What size are the beds so I know what linens to bring?
Deluxe lodge rooms provide two twin-size bunk beds. Bottom beds can be pulled out into double beds. Economy lodging provides twin-size bunk beds.
What hook-ups are provided for RVs?
Water and electricity are provided. We have a limited number of RV spaces with full hook-ups.
How soon do I need to register?
Please register as soon as possible. Space is limited and past retreats have filled up.
How do I communicate special wants and needs, such as food allergies or lodging requests?
When you register, there will be a space on the registration form to list food allergies, lodging requests, and other needs.
How do I get around camp if I can’t walk as well as I used to?
Shuttle-type or cart transportation will be provided to those in need.
Are pets allowed at camp?
For the comfort of all guests, pets are not allowed at camp.
What forms of payment may I use if I register online?
Online registration accepts Visa, MasterCard, debit cards, American Express, and Discover.
How’s the weather at camp?
Please visit our Weather page for current weather conditions and average monthly temperature information.
What should I pack?
Please visit our What to Bring to Camp page for packing guidance.
Are your facilities accessible for persons with disabilities?
Our facilities are rugged and connected to nature, with rocks, tree debris, unpaved walkways, and steep vertical grades. That said, we do have some ability to accommodate persons with disabilities. Please call our office for more information.
Can Whispering Winds staff accommodate medications that need to be refrigerated?
Yes, though most campers find it easier to bring their own coolers to store medications. The Food Service team can provide ice for your cooler if needed.
