Camp Guidelines & Information

Welcome to Whispering Winds Camp! Please take a moment to review these important guidelines to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for you and your guests.

Speed Limits & Parking

  • Speed Limits: The speed limit on the main road to camp is 15 mph, and 5 mph within the camp.
  • Parking: Designated parking areas include:
    • Treehouse Lot
    • Disciples Lodge
    • Near Milner and Juanico Lodging You will receive parking instructions at check-in. Please avoid parking in front of meeting halls to allow space for emergency vehicles.

Important Hours

  • Welcome Center & Angels’ Nook Store: Open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Quiet Hours: 10:30 PM to 6:00 AM.
  • Meal Times:
    • Breakfast: 8:00 AM
    • Lunch: 12:00 PM
    • Dinner: 5:30 PM Check with your group leader or program schedule for any changes.

Hydration & Water Stations

  • Stay hydrated! The camp sits at 4,500 feet above sea level, making hydration essential. Water-filling stations are available at:
    • Dining Hall
    • Welcome Center
    • All Meeting Spaces
  • All water comes from our well system, ensuring a sustainable and fresh supply.

Lodging

  • Room assignments will be provided by your group leader or at check-in.

Recreational Activities

  • Enjoy a variety of free recreational activities, including:
    • Pickleball
    • Sand Volleyball
    • Gaga Ball
  • Equipment for tennis, pickleball, and ping-pong can be checked out at the Welcome Center.
  • Additional equipment can be found at:
    • The brown bench by the basketball court
    • The shed in the meadow
  • Game Room: Opens at 9:00 AM daily. Please note: No food or drinks are allowed, and adult supervision is required.

Energy Conservation

  • Help us conserve energy by turning off lights, A/C, or heaters when leaving rooms or common areas.

Safety

  • Walking After Dark: For safety, please walk in groups of 3 or more before sunup and after sundown.
  • Wildlife: You may encounter turkeys, deer, woodpeckers, and squirrels. Please give them space.
    • In the rare event of spotting a bobcat or mountain lion:
      • Do not run.
      • Make eye contact, appear larger, and make noise.
      • Slowly back away and report the sighting to our staff.

First Aid & Emergencies

  • First Aid Kits & AEDs are located at:
    • Dining Hall
    • Welcome Center
    • Pool (Summer only)
    • Founders Hall (Off-season)
  • Emergency Protocol:
    • In an emergency, dial 911 and inform them you are at Whispering Winds Camp.
    • Stay calm, seek staff assistance, and follow instructions.
    • If you hear the meadow bell ring continuously, gather at Founders Hall for further guidance.

End of Stay Checkout

  • Before Departing:
    • Turn off lights, A/C/heaters, and leave your room door unlocked.
  • Group Leaders: Must stop by the Welcome Center for checkout paperwork.
  • Whispering Winds Programs: Checkout information will be provided by our staff.
