The Whispering Winds Board of Directors provides oversight and direction to the organization and supports the Executive Director and staff as needed. Directors commit their time, talent, and treasures for the ongoing success of our mission:

The mission of Whispering Winds is to provide a Christ-centered environment, apart from the everyday world where all are welcome to increase their knowledge of and commitment to Christ, and join as fellow pilgrims on their journey of faith with God.

Whispering Winds Directors come from a variety of different professions, exhibit Christian leadership, and participate effectively as team members.

Tim has over 40+ years of experience as a Financial Advisor. He contributes to a variety of professional groups and is very involved in his community. Tim serves on the Board for Fresh Start Surgical Gifts Foundation, whose mission is to make a difference in the lives of children with physical deformities through gifts of reconstructive surgery. He is a member and past president of the Coronado Rotary Club, active in the Cursillo movement, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Coronado. As the Board Chair for Whispering Winds, Tim acts in a completely separate role from his position as a Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo Advisors.

Robert Wiley has over 40 years of experience in corporate construction management and facilities management in varied industries, including financial at HomeFed Bank, consumer electronics at Hewlett-Packard, and biopharmaceutical at Biogen Idec in San Diego. With Biogen Idec, he was also assigned for three years to a construction project in Denmark to help manage the construction and establishment of facilities operations for a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Hillerød.
Robert has also been on the boards of directors for several non-profit organizations in San Diego. He served on the BoD for the San Diego chapter of the International Facility Managers Association for four years, two as board chairman. He served as a BoD member for seven years at Whispering Winds Catholic Camp and Conference Center and five as board chairman. He also served on the BoD for Rise Up Industries. He also is currently doing volunteer work for You Did It for Me, a non-profit organization that supports people who are unhoused in San Diego East County. Robert is a parishioner at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in El Cajon.

Larry has been employed by the County Surveyors Office for 30 years. He and his wife Angela are parishioners at St. Mary Magdalene (Baypark). Larry is active in his parish community in the Men’s Group, as a Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the “Community Building” committee. He also served six years as the head coach for The School of the Madeline football team.

Peter has over 25 years of hands-on experience as a senior financial executive and controller. An alum of Loyola Marymount University, he earned his MBA from USC. He and his wife Kathy are parishioners at St. John the Evangelist.

Christopher Geis is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Christa McAuliffe Academy School of Arts and Sciences (CMASAS). He graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and spent his fifth year at Point Loma Nazarene College obtaining his Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Christopher’s combination of business administration and education proved invaluable as a pioneer in the charter school movement within California, Washington and Wisconsin, and now as Executive Director of CMASAS. Serving in his roles of administration has enabled Christopher to pass the California Administrative Services Credential Examination in 2001. Christopher has been able to share his passion for traveling with families and students to countries such as Cuba, Spain, Italy, and South Africa. He also enjoys surfing, paddleboarding, and hiking. Christopher volunteers his time and talent within his local church communities of St Rose of Lima parish in Chula Vista, CA and St Catherine’s of Alexandria in Kapaa Kauai. He has served on St Rose of Lima’s School Advisory Council, is a member of Knights of Columbus and is currently serving on St Catherine’s finance council. He is married to Linda, whom he has known since childhood, and has been his partner and inspiration throughout his educational, professional and spiritual journey.

Margie grew up in the great outdoors. She started going to summer camp as a young kid at Camp Oliver, then continued to go with her youth group and sixth grade camp. Her first job was a camp counselor at Camp Oliver. She worked her way up the ranks over the years as camp counselor, lifeguard, administrative staff, assistant director, and eventually to the board of directors. Camp has always been close to her heart. She is excited to bring her love of camping and the great outdoors to Whispering Winds, where she has spent quite some time volunteering over the years. When Margie isn’t camping or playing pickleball, she is an office manager at Hughes & Pizzuto, APC, a law firm specializing in estate planning, trust administration, business planning, taxation, and charitable family foundations. They have offices in downtown San Diego, as well as Coronado. Margie and her husband Michael live with their dog Berit in Casa de Oro.

Michael A. May brings over 15 years of experience in product management and strategy, specializing in embedded and real-time operating systems. His career includes roles at Wind River, Microsoft, and Express Logic, where he contributed to innovative technologies and led efforts to improve reliability and performance in both products and platforms.

A parishioner at St. Michael’s Parish in Poway, Michael enjoys volunteering, reading, and staying active outside of work.

Michael is honored to serve on the Whispering Winds Board, supporting its mission of peace, renewal, and spiritual growth.

Kelly and her husband are the owners of Business Office Outfitters, where Kelly serves as President of the company for the past 33 years. Kelly handles all financial and HR responsibilities of the company and oversees Sales, Operations, accounting, and marketing for the company. Kelly has been part of the Lion’s Club of La Mesa for over 33 years and has held all offices of the club including President. Kelly also sits on the board of the Whispering Winds Woman’s Auxiliary. She received her degree in Psychology and Sociology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Kelly and her husband of 32 years have 3 children, one of whom works in the family business full-time. They attend St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. In her spare time, Kelly likes to be involved in the community, bible study and prayer groups, reading, or exercising.

Stephanie spent almost 14 years at the University of San Diego School of Business running their graduate degree business programs before heading off for 3 years to lead zero8hundred, a local area non-profit that aids military service members with their holistic transition to civilian life – professionally, academically, socially, and spiritually. In January 2021, Stephanie returned to the University of San Diego to be the CFO/COO of the School of Law – her alma mater. She is also a non-practicing special education attorney with a deep passion for families that include a special needs child. This passion led her to help launch the Whispering Winds Special Needs Family camp back in 2013. Stephanie has served on a number of boards over the years, including Noah Homes, SoCal Weimaraner Rescue, and the San Diego Humane Society. Stephanie and her husband, Marty (retired Navy pilot), have one son – Nick – who currently attends St. Augustine High School. They are parishioners of Mission San Diego de Alcala, where Stephanie has been singing in the 9 AM folk group for almost 25 years.

Renato Montaño serves as Deputy Superintendent of the Imperial County Office of Education, leading programs that prepare students for success in life, college, and career. With nearly 30 years of educational leadership, he has championed dual-language immersion programs, higher graduation rates, and modernized school facilities. Renato earned a MA in Educational Leadership and a BA in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University. A lifelong Catholic, his faith is central to both his personal and professional life. Inspired by his family’s deep spirituality and his transformative Cursillo retreat in 2015, Renato views his role as a leader as a vocation rooted in service, love, and hope. He is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in El Centro. In addition to serving on various charitable boards, Renato has coached baseball for over 30 years, mentoring young athletes. Renato and his wife of 30 years, Jeanette, are the proud parents of four sons: Tito, Sergio, Diego, and Andres. They make their home in El Centro, California.

Annette has 44 years of experience in marketing, business development & management. She has worked in the telecom industry for 18 years in large corporations and several start-ups before partnering with her husband, Tom, in a construction and real estate company. Annette is a San Diego native, married to Tom for 41 years, and has two adult children. She is active in Cursillo and St. Therese parish as a Eucharistic Minister.

Over 30 years of construction experience – CEO /President of American Sheet Metal, which recently merged with California Sheet Metal in 2021. Robert is now Executive VP and board member of California Sheet Metal, which is an employee-owned company. Married for over 25 years to Lisa Burner and blessed to have 2 great young adults. Robert is active in the Cursillo movement, where he made his weekend #286 and parishioners at St Charles Borromeo. Lisa is a leader in a women’s bible study called “Walking with Purpose,” and Robert is active with the Men’s Prayer group.

Rob has been a Quality Assurance Manager for an aerospace company for over 43 years. He and his wife Rosemary are parishioners at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lakeside. Rob is an active member of a multi parish Men’s Prayer Group and recently served as Treasurer for Cursillo.

Msgr. Campbell has been a part of the San Diego Diocese since he was ordained at Saint Brigid’s Parish in Pacific Beach in April of 1971. He has served at St. Patrick’s Parish, Immaculata, Santa Sophia, Immaculate Conception and Our Mother of Confidence. He earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree at the University of San Diego and an advanced degree in Canon Law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He retired in 2021, celebrating his 50th year of ordination. Msgr. Mark became involved with Whispering Winds more than 35 years ago and continues to serve many youth, family and senior groups at camp.

Father Murphy was ordained to the priesthood in 1983. Father Mike earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from California State University, Fullerton, and worked as a radio personality and program director at KPSI in Palm Springs. He entered the St. Francis Seminary in 1978. He attended the Gregorian University in Rome, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Sacred Theology and a Licentiate Degree in Spirituality. Father Mike has served in several parishes as a priest as well as Director of the Permanent Diaconate, Vice Rector and Academic Dean at St. Francis Seminary, and Director of the Office for Priests for 25 years. He currently serves as Pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Coronado.
