Lives Touched

I invited my sisters to my first Women’s Retreat hoping we could connect through our faith for a weekend. It was a moving experience for us on many levels! It was at that retreat I decided to join the Women’s Auxiliary. I have been serving on the Auxiliary board for three years now. I receive joy knowing that I am able to spread the Word by contributing to the Auxiliary so many others may attend camp and deepen their faith!

Many people say that Whispering Winds is a special place…that’s because it is!  Over the past 25 years when I have spent time there it has both calmed my soul and invigorated my faith.  I look forward to attending the Women’s Retreat every year because I know a quiet, reflective time will be carved out of my busy life in the peaceful Julian mountains.  The auxiliary members always go above and beyond to take care of the ladies and plan fun and spiritually significant activities for us – and we don’t have to cook!

Whether I visit our beautiful Whispering Winds camp to serve or to receive, I am always filled with the Spirit on that Holy Ground.  I come home with a light heart full of the peace and love that is always present at our camp.

Frequently Asked Questions

How’s the weather at camp?

Please visit our Weather page for current weather conditions and average monthly temperature information.

What is the altitude at Whispering Winds?

Our site averages about 4500 feet.

What should I pack?

Our Guest Service Team will send you a camp document that will include all the items you need to pack. Please keep in mind that weather shifts can happen quite suddenly, so always come prepared for hot/cold or wet/dry weather.

Can you accommodate special dietary needs?

Our Food Service team greatly appreciates the opportunity to serve you. We do recognize that there may be dietary needs such as allergies and our desire is to make sure your needs are met. Please make note when you register of your dietary requirements. Our Food Service team will need to know this information one week prior to your stay. Thank you for helping our team partner with you in meeting these needs.

Are your facilities accessible for persons with disabilities?

Our facilities are rugged and inherently connected to nature; with rocks, tree debris, unpaved walkways, and steep vertical grades. That said, we do have some ability to accommodate persons with disabilities, and have many guests with disabilities each year. Please call one of our offices for further information.

Is the Whispering Winds Staff able to accommodate medications that need to be refrigerated?

Yes, however, most campers find it much easier to bring their own coolers to store their medications. The Food Service team will gladly provide ice for your cooler if necessary.
