Lives Touched

I need to say how happy I am you listened to your hearts and followed through on planning and making this retreat happen. I loved it because everything was pointing to our Lord. The agenda was all built around showing us how much God loves us…in so many ways.

Tom

It was a special three days for a bunch of old folks! It was geared to our needs and interests and the program offered something for everyone. I loved all of it!

Doris

One of the highlights of the weekend was meeting so many warm and friendly people. A true sense of Love and affection pervaded the entire experience. Everyone from all the staff and volunteers to the attendees made you feel wanted and appreciated. I haven’t laughed and smiled that much in a long, long time. THANK YOU. It was truly a very uplifting experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

May a friend and I reserve a private lodge room?

The private lodge room rate is for married couples only. Individuals will share a room with up to three others. This way we can accommodate more seniors!

If I need to cancel, may I receive my deposit back or apply it to next year?

It takes time for the office staff to process your registration and payment as well as cancel it and open your spot to another guest. If you have paid in full, we can refund you all but $50 up to seven days before the start of camp. After that, no refunds will be made. Food and supplies will have already been purchased and it will generally be too late to fill your spot.

What size are the beds so I can know what size linens to bring?

The deluxe lodge rooms provide two twin-size bunk beds. The bottom beds can be pulled out into double beds. The economy lodging provides twin size bunk beds.

What hook-ups are provided for RVs?

Water and electricity. We only have 3 RV spaces with full hook-ups.

How soon do I need to register?

Please register as soon as possible. Last year we filled up and had to turn people away.

How do I communicate special wants and needs, such as food allergies or lodging requests?

When you register to attend there will be a space on the registration to list your food allergies and lodging requests.

How do I get around camp now that I can’t walk as well as I used to?

Shuttle-type or car transportation will be provided to those in need.

Are pets allowed at camp?

For the comfort of all, no pets are allowed at family camp.

What forms of payment may I use if I register online?

VISA, MasterCard, (debit also) American Express and Discover.

How’s the weather at camp?

Please visit our Weather page for current weather conditions and average monthly temperature information.

What if I want to mail in a registration form?

If you cannot register online, please email (best) or call the office at office@whisperingwinds.org or 619-464-1479  and we will email or mail you a registration form.

What should I pack?

Please visit our What to Bring to Camp page.

Are your facilities accessible for persons with disabilities?

Our facilities are rugged and inherently connected to nature; with rocks, tree debris, unpaved walkways, and steep vertical grades. That said, we do have some ability to accommodate persons with disabilities, and have many guests with disabilities each year. Please call one of our offices for further information.

Is the Whispering Winds Staff able to accommodate medications that need to be refrigerated?

Yes, however, most campers find it much easier to bring their own coolers to store their medications. The Food Service team will gladly provide ice for your cooler if necessary.

What if I have additional questions?

For questions pertaining to registration, payments, cancellations, meals, please email (best) or call our office at office@whisperingwinds.org or 619-464-1479. For questions pertaining to the retreat program, please call the retreat leader, Bernice Mascari at 619-303-1132 (H) or 619-823-7414 (C).
