Key Tips & Important Information about Camp!

• The speed limit on the main road to campis 15mph and 5mph through camp. There are designated parking spaces, such as our treehouse lot, Disciples Lodge, and near Milner and Juanico lodging. You and your guests will be instructed on where to park at check-in.

• Please avoid parking in front of meeting halls; they need to remain clear to allow for emergency vehicles if needed.

• Important hours to remember: The Welcome Center and Angels’ Nook Store are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Quiet time at camp is from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m., and our meal times are 8 a.m. for breakfast, 12 p.m. for lunch, and 530 p.m. for dinner. Please check with your group leader or your program schedule for any updates or changes.

• Stay hydrated with our convenient water-filling stations! Our camp, situated 4,500 feet above sea level, can lead to quick dehydration. All water at our camp is from our well water system, and we have filling stations at the Dining Hall, Welcome Center, and all Meeting Spaces.

• As for Lodging – Your room assignments are given to you by your group leader or at check-in.

• We have lots of free recreational activities for you! Pickleball, Sand Volleyball, Gaga Ball, and many others. Equipment for tennis, pickleball, and ping-pong can be checked out from the Welcome Center by your adult leaders. For additional recreational equipment, there is a brown bench at the basketball court and outside the shed in the meadow. We also have our Game Room which opens at 9 am each day. Please, no food or drinks in the Game Room, and adult supervision is required.

• Also, please help us conserve energy by turning off lights, ac, or heater when you leave your room, meeting space, or common areas when you exit.

• When walking around camp, always walk in groups of 3 or more before sunup and after sundown for safety and for possible wildlife at camp. You may see turkeys, deer, woodpeckers, and lots of squirrels. Please remember to give the animals their space. In the event that you spot a bobcat or mountain lion, DON’T RUN. Make eye contact with the animal, make yourself look really big, and make lots of noise. Slowly back away to a safe space. Once you’re safe, please let our staff know what you saw and that you’re okay.

• If First Aid Kits and AED machines are needed, they are located at our Dining Hall and Welcome Center. During the summer (June-Sept), there will also be one at the Pool, and during our off-season (Oct-May), there will be an AED at Founders Hall. It is important to stay calm during an emergency; call 911 from a cell phone or landline, let them know you’re calling from Whispering Winds Camp, and provide our address. Seek out a staff member for immediate assistance.

• If there is an emergency onsite, you will continuously hear the meadow bell ring. That is your cue to gather in Founders Hall and await further instructions from our staff.

• When it’s time to head back down the mountain, please help us by turning off the lights and AC/heater and leaving your room door unlocked.

• For checkout, if you’re here with a rental group, your group leader will need to stop by the Welcome Center to fill out important information before your departure. As for those attending Whispering Winds Programs, check out information will be provided to you by our staff.
