Lives Touched

I thought the retreat was a lot of fun. I learned about the importance of prayer in my daily life. I enjoyed making new friends.

Alex

One of the most amazing things throughout the weekend was seeing people come in, shy and nervous at first, but confident in themselves and comfortable with their new friends by the end. Many who had refused to get involved or even speak up ended up crying, and it really showed how much this time meant for all of us.

Ben

One of my teens lost her brother and she has taken his death hard. She shared that the “baggage” talk helped her because she imagined laying down the burden of her brother’s death at the foot of Jesus’ cross. She said she feels lighter, and I saw a spark in her eyes!

Frequently Asked Questions

What will the weather be like?

Please visit our Weather page for current weather conditions and average monthly temperature information.

Is there anything I can do to make my child more comfortable at Camp?

Yes, as an extra comfort from home, pack a twin sized fitted sheet that they can use on their bunk bed. Sneaking a special note and/or snack into their suitcase would be nice for them to find, too.

Is there any special clothing that my child should bring?

Yes, your child should bring two extra pairs of socks, gloves, closed toed shoes and a hat or beanie. For more information, please see our “What to Bring to Camp” list in the Parent Documents above.

My child is the only one going from our Parish. Will he/she make friends?

Definitely! The program is designed for guests to be grouped with others they do not know. Games and icebreakers will facilitate discussion and interaction among those who are new to the retreat experience.

What is the altitude at Whispering Winds?

Our site averages about 4500 feet.

Can you accommodate special dietary needs?

Our Food Service team greatly appreciates the opportunity to serve you. We do recognize that there may be dietary needs such as allergies and our desire is to make sure your needs are met. Please make note when you register of your dietary requirements. Our Food Service team will need to know this information one week prior to your stay. Thank you for helping our team partner with you in meeting these needs.

Are your facilities accessible for persons with disabilities?

Our facilities are rugged and inherently connected to nature; with rocks, tree debris, unpaved walkways, and steep vertical grades. That said, we do have some ability to accommodate persons with disabilities, and have many guests with disabilities each year. Please call one of our offices for further information.

Is the Whispering Winds Staff able to accommodate medications that need to be refrigerated?

Yes, however, most campers find it much easier to bring their own coolers to store their medications. The Food Service team will gladly provide ice for your cooler if necessary.
